I grew up going to church with my mother and siblings. When I was about nine years old, the things that I was learning started to become real to me. After a week of nightmares and fears and questions, I came to the point of needing answers and certainty about the trustworthiness of the Bible and about Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. My mom showed me John 17:17, when Jesus prays and asks the Father to “Sanctify them (his followers) in the truth; Your Word is truth.” And those words were like light in the darkness! I understood that I could trust that whatever God said was true and I believed that Jesus took my place on that cross. He forgave my sin and rescued my life from destruction. “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

Over the last 20+ years of knowing Christ, the Word of God has been the rock that I can stand on because it tells me who God is. Psalm 145:8-9 is my lifeline. “The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The LORD is good to all and his lovingkindness is over all that he has made.” And this same proclamation is found in a handful of other places in the bible too! Because God wants us to know HIM. And I’m so grateful to know him- now and forever.
