Our Mission is “to see lost kids saved, saved kids matured, and mature kids multiplied, all to the glory of God.”

Our Vision is to see the hearts and lives of kids and families transformed by the power of the gospel as it is taught in every lesson, craft and activity.

At Redemption Church:

  • We desire to lay a strong biblical and Christ-centred foundation in the lives of our children. We want to see each child grow in their relationship with God and become life-long followers of Jesus Christ.
  • We earnestly desire children to recognize the gospel as their hope (Col 1:23), their strength (Rom 16:23), the way they grow (Gal 3:1-3) and are renewed (Col 1:6), what they obey (2 Thes 1:8) and the means of living a worthy life (Phil 1:27).
  • We love children. Children are vital to our society and God’s Kingdom (Matthew 19:14). We want your child to build their life on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ (Matthew 7:24-27).
  • We want to partners with parents to provide care and spiritual direction for newborns through Grade 6.
  • We have the same discipleship goals for children as we do adults, namely that they abide in Christ, grow in the church, and reach the community. We cannot properly make disciples without an intentional, discipleship emphasis on children.

Redemption Kids is a place for children to make friends, have fun, and most importantly learn about Jesus Christ!

Redemption Kids is broken up into the following areas:

  • Infants & Toddlers

  • 2 Year Olds
  • 3 – 4 Year Olds

  • Kindergarten to Grade 1
  • Grade 2-3
  • Grade 4-6

We use Truth78 and The Gospel Project curriculum and value gospel-centred, gospel-rich lessons.

Every Sunday we offer classes during both services that are designed to minister to children. Kids aged two years and older participate in the main service worship set and are dismissed for age-appropriate lessons and activities before the sermon.

  • You will be greeted by our Welcome Team as you enter the building. You will see our Redemption Kids check-in table where you will be check-in your children and receive a name tag for each child and a security tag for parents. (Please retain this security tag as it will be needed to check your child(ren) out of their classroom. This ID number will also be shown on the screen during the service if you are needed in your child’s classroom.)

  • Please ensure that your child has gone to the washroom or has a clean diaper before the service starts.
  • Infants remain in the Nursery for the duration of the service, being cared for by our vetted and background-checked volunteers who will engage them in age-appropriate activities. We do offer a gluten-free snack (Cheerios).  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Leigh Saunders, our Redemption Kids Director, at kids@redemptioncalgarynorth.ca.
  • Walkers, and toddlers remain with their families during our time of corporate worship during the main service. Before the sermon, kids are dismissed to their various classes. Our teachers will be waiting with a class sign to guide them to their classroom, however, it is recommended that our 2 Year Old group are escorted by parents/adults to their classroom. The walkers and toddlers are offered a snack (gluten-free and dairy-free options are available). Please ensure that your child’s allergy information is up-to-date. This information is printed on their name tag and referred to by our volunteers during snack time. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Leigh Saunders, our Redemption Kids Director, at kids@redemptioncalgarynorth.ca.

  • Preschool through Grade 6 children remain with their families during our time of corporate worship during the main service. Before the sermon, kids are dismissed to their various classes. Our teachers will be waiting with a class sign to guide them to their classroom. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Leigh Saunders, our Redemption Kids Director, at kids@redemptioncalgarynorth.ca.

  • After the service ends, parents are asked to promptly pick-up their children from their classrooms by presenting their security tag to one of the volunteers in their child’s class.  If you have more than one child, you will use the same sticker to check-out your children from each of their classes.

If you are planning on joining us for the first time, you can complete our Registration Form now to make your Sunday a little less chaotic.

Please check your child’s bathroom needs BEFORE he or she is dismissed to class. Our teachers
work diligently to prepare lessons and activities that will minister to your children and we don’t want
them to miss anything. This small detail will help us hold your child’s attention and dramatically
impact classroom dynamics.

Our volunteers do not change diapers. If your child requires a diaper change, you will be paged to attend to this.

Check-in begins 15 minutes before the service begins. After your child is checked-in, they will remain with you until the kids are dismissed during the service, except for infants who can be dropped off in our Nursery before the service begins.

To assist our volunteers, please collect your child immediately after service. Children will not be released to anyone other than parents/guardians or preapproved individuals (see Preapproval Form). Siblings may sign-out your child, if they are older than Grade 5 and preapproved. Anytime a volunteer is unsure about a person’s identity, photo ID will be required.

Redemption Kids volunteers make an effort to be well prepared, maintain clearly define rules and
expectations, and extend grace to children. When a child willfully disobeys age-appropriate
expectations, is overly disruptive, aggressive, or acting unacceptably, then classroom discipline is
enforced. Classroom discipline is meant to maintain order and a facilitate learning. It is also designed
to minister to a troubled child.

Discipline is organized around a three warnings policy: (1) gentle
warning or request for a specific behavior to change, (2) a second verbal warning or request with a
loss of a privilege and an attempt to apply age-appropriate biblical counsel, (3) third warning or
request with a conversation outside of the classroom to review the rules, discuss desires of the heart
and biblical principles, pray, and possibly page parents. If parents are paged, the child will remain
with them for the remainder of the service.

In the event that the facility must be evacuated, please follow this simple procedure: DO NOT go and try to fetch your child. Our volunteers will safely escort your child to a safe meeting area.

If re-entry is not possible, DO re-connect with your child outside and follow the normal
check out process.

We do livestream the service onsite for families. We ask that if you have an overly active or noisy child, please use this room (which is located in the Nursery) to help reduce distractions in the main service.

In the best interest of the child, Redemption Kids will not host a child who is sick, injured,
inconsolable, or misbehaving. If any of these situations arise, we will page you using the security
number found on your child’s name tag, which matches the number on the check-in tag you received.
This number will display on the corner of the projection screen during the service. If you see you
child’s number, please leave the service immediately and go to the child’s classroom.

We ask that you do not return to the service with an overly active or noisy child. Please use the Livestream room (located in the Nursery). All parents are expected to remain on-site while their child is in Redemption Kids Children’s Ministry.

Redemption Kids is a “well-child” ministry. Children may be declined from check-in or dismissed early
from class if they show signs of illness or an inability to participate with the group due to drowsiness
or illness.

We ask that you keep your child with you, if he or she has experienced any of the following
symptoms within 24 hours: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, colored discharge from eyes or nose, sore throat
or cough, unexplained or contagious rash, lice, diagnosed illness (e.g. pink eye, measles, mumps, chicken pox).

Children may attend class with continually-clear runny noses or non-contagious rashes due to

We take time to ensure that all our volunteers are vetted and background-checked. We trust the volunteers that serve in our ministry as they care for your children.

Our policy is to have at least 2 adult volunteers in each classroom, more for the younger age groups. If we are unable to have 2 adult volunteers, there will be at least 1 adult volunteer and a roaming hall monitor. The role of the hall monitor is to check in on the classes during service and provide assistance (with crafts and bathroom breaks etc) where required.

A complete Redemption Kids Manual is available upon request.
